Herstmonceux Castle
Near Hailsham, East Sussex, England
Built during the reign of King Henry V in the mid 15th Century, Herstmonceux Castle combines the history of medieval England and the romance of Renaissance Europe. Today, following complete renovations, Herstmonceux has opened its doors to a new era of learning and enlightenment as a full time international study centre.
Set amid rolling parklands and superb formal gardens, Herstmonceux Castle is the embodiment of English culture and history and the perfect location for a medieval festival.
Along with a beautiful surrounding lake, the walled gardens to the Herstmonceux Castle in the rear are magnificently presented and serve as a haven of peace and tranquillity, as indeed does the Castle courtyard. The gardens are open to the public during the Festival but the Castle itself is closed.
